Step by step
- Your kit arrives by post It includes everything you need to collect your sample, and instructions on how to do this.
- Wear the cup during your period
- Collect one sample in the first three days of your period
- Take a vaginal swab on the same day Do this whilst wearing the cup.
- Send both back by post
Smart cup or traditional cup?
You’ll receive both. The smart cup is made by Emm and uses Bluetooth to connect to an app on your phone, providing information about your period. Either is fine for the study, so choose whichever you find more comfortable.
Optional: donating a biopsy
If you live near, or are willing to travel to, Cambridge University Hospitals, you can also decide whether you’d like to donate a small tissue sample (biopsy) of your endometrium (lining of your womb). This is completely optional, and you can still take part in BLEEDS without donating this.
