Withdraw from the study

You can stop taking part in BLEEDS at any time. You don’t need to give a reason, and it won’t affect your care.

You choose what happens to what we already have. Withdrawing doesn’t automatically delete anything. If you simply tell us you want to stop, we’ll stop contacting you and won’t collect anything new, but we’ll keep and continue to use the samples and data from before. If you’d rather we didn’t, you can ask us to delete them, as described below.

How to withdraw

If you would like to withdraw, please contact bleeds-consent@sanger.ac.uk and tell us how you would like to withdraw using the four areas below. You can choose differently for each one.

1. Contact

  • I am happy for BLEEDS to continue contacting me about the study
  • I would like BLEEDS to no longer contact me about the study

2. Samples you’ve already given

  • I am happy for BLEEDS to continue storing and using the samples I have already provided
  • I would like BLEEDS to destroy the samples I have already provided

3. Research data generated so far

  • I am happy for BLEEDS to continue storing and using the data generated from my participation
  • I would like BLEEDS to delete the data generated from my participation

4. Health, clinical and smart menstrual cup data

  • I am happy for BLEEDS to continue using this information
  • I would like BLEEDS to stop using this information

Things to know

  • Data already in public research databases can’t be removed. Once data has been shared this way, we can’t take it back.
  • Some requests may not be possible. If deleting something would stop us from using data in research already underway, we may not be able to do it. If so, we’ll tell you why.
